The Mid-Prairie baseball team stepped outside of league play Friday night and host the Stormin’ Pointers of Center Point Urbana in double header action in Wellman.

CPU took game one by a 9-6 count. The Stormin’ Pointers raced out of the gate, scoring once in the first and putting five on the board in the second inning to build a 6-0 lead. Mid-Prairie countered with one in the second, three in the third and a pair of runs in the fourth to get within 7-6. CPU added a single insurance run in each of the last two innings to salt away the win.

In game two the Golden Hawks used the Pointers strategy of jumping out to a big early lead, posting a seven run second inning to take 7-1 advantage early. Mid-Prairie would lead by as many as 9-1 before holding off CPU late for an 11-7 victory.
