In a battle of KCII area teams Tuesday night in Wellman, the Mid-Prairie baseball team knocked off Keota 10-2.

In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, Mid-Prairie got on the board first with a pair of runs in the opening frame. Keaton Duwa drove in Eli Steckly and Derek Rich with an RBI single. Keota cut that lead in half in the top of the second when Cole Brenneman doubled down the left field line to score Tyler Verstraate. The Golden Hawks added a single run in the bottom of the second and third innings to go up 4-1. Mid-Prairie continued to extended their lead scoring twice more in the second and four times in the fourth. Keota scored their second run in the sixth on a MId-Prairie error. Eighth grader Brad Tornow collected the win on the mound for Mid-Prairie, he went all seven innings, gave up six hits, two runs, walked one and struck out six. At the plate the Hawks were led by Duwa who finished two for two with two runs scored and three driven in. Alex Watson also finished with three RBI. Brenneman finished two for three for Keota with an RBI. Jack Eakins and Vetstraate each had a hit and scored a run. With the win Mid-Prairie is now 9-12 overall, Keota falls to 5-8 overall.
