The lone senior on this year’s Highland Huskies softball team (17-7 overall) resumes play tonight as the best power hitter in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference. Cheyann Adamson, a five-year starter for the Huskies, leads the league with a slugging percentage of .827, a mere four percentage points ahead of Van Buren’s Hannah Heiserman for the conference lead.

Adamson has collected 40 hits this season, 12 going for extra bases. She’s recorded four doubles, six triples, and two home runs. Adamson also leads the SEISC in triples and runs batted in (32), and has surpassed her totals from last year for hits, runs scored (30), and stolen bases (13).

Adamson will continue her softball career in college, signing a letter of intent this winter with the Des Moines Area Community College Bears.

The Huskies are 17-7 overall heading into tonight’s Southeast Iowa Super Conference matchup versus the Wapello Arrorws (21-7 overall).
