Entering his final high school baseball season, Highland’s Spencer Wieland had stolen 16 career bases in 17 attempts. The recent graduate continues to be among the best in the state at stealing bases, recording his 40th stolen base in a 15-4 victory Monday versus the Danville Bears.

Entering play Tuesday, Wieland ranked second in the state regardless of class in stolen bases. North Linn sophomore Ryan Miller is the state’s leader in the category, stealing 46 bases in 48 attempts.

Wieland continues to lead the Huskies in multiple offensive categories, including batting average (.469), on base percentage (.564), hits (30), walks (13), and runs scored (28).

Highland entertained the Central Lee Hawks Tuesday at Highland High School. The Huskies won the game, 2-0, improving their overall record to 15-6.
