The Iowa Mennonite School baseball team got the offense rolling early and late in their 2016 home opener Tuesday night, pounding visiting Holy Trinity Catholic 10-0 in six innings.

. In a game heard on AM 1380, FM 102.5 and KCIIradio.com IMS got on the board with one in the first as Tobyn Bender drove in Noah Bruns. IMS added on in the second with three more runs on a half dozen hits, sprinting out to a 4-0 lead. Both pitchers and defenses settled in during the middle innings, including IMS starter Blake Bontrager who sat down 11 of 12 Crusaders between the second and fifth innings. Still holding their 4-0 lead going to the sixth IMS ended things early pounding out five hits and six runs in their last at bat. Seven of the nine hitters in the Iowa Mennonite lineup ended the game with at least two hits. Drake Brezina was three for four with two runs scored and an RBI, Tobyn Bender finished two for three with two RBI. Bontrager recorded the complete game shut out on the mound, giving up just three hits, walking only one and striking out seven. With the win IMS is now 1-1 on the year and will next be in action Monday when they host West Burlington Notre Dame.
