The Iowa Mennonite School softball team made a statement with their first win of the season, pounding WACO Friday night 20-2 in three innings.

In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, IMS sent 17 batters to the plate in a first inning that saw every player in the starting lineup score a run in the frame, helping them jump out to a 12-0 lead. WACO scored twice in the bottom of the first with Bridgett Smith and Grace Conwell coming home to make it 12-2. Iowa Mennonite added on more in the second and seven more in the third to pull away for the shortened win.

IMS had every player in the starting lineup score a run and record at least one hit, six of the nine in the order had at least one RBI. Avery Blauvelt led the way going two for two with two runs scored and four RBI. Rubye Ney, Suzanna Yoder and Joya Schrock all had three hits. Hannah Harris got the win in the circle going all three innings giving up two hits, a pair of runs, walking one and striking out one. For the Warriors, Katie Miles took the loss giving up 20 runs, 14 hits, walking three and striking out one. Along with the hits by Smith and Conwell, Mayme Hinh had an RBI. With the win IMS is now 1-4 on the year, WACO falls to 0-8.
