The Lake Darling camping area has 80 total campsites, but as of Tuesday there are only eight left for the 4th of July weekend. Lake Darling Park Ranger Zach Haworth said the full hook-up sites filled up almost three months ago when they were made available for reservation. Additionally, all of the electric sites have been booked this week. There are some non-electric sites available, and even those have been going fast according to Haworth.
He said the big three summer holidays — Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Labor Day — tend to fill up fast and early, though he added when the weather forecast for the weekend has been good, the full hook-up and electric sites have been occupied. Haworth said they were hoping to have the cabins operational for this weekend, but they’re still a week or two away from being ready. The new modern cabins likely won’t be open until August.
