The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk softball team held a Hit-a-thon and Home Run Derby Thursday night at Carr, Vincent, Gould Field in Kalona.

Money raised at the event was pledged to Special Olympics baseball and softball teams in Iowa for new uniforms and equipment. The home run derby portion ended in a three way tie between Alex Rath, Anna Vilovchik, and Amber Kral each with one. Kral and Rath led the way in the Hit-a-thon with the most hits recorded and most money raised. Head coach Kara Suchow handled the pitching duties. The players raised $1 per single, $2 per double, $3 per triple and $10 for a home run. Total amount raised surpassed $1,000.
