Tri-County/Keota Superintendent Dennis Phelps

Starting Friday, there will be a new face leading the Keota School District. Dennis Phelps will take over as the superintendent for Keota, after they worked out a sharing agreement with Tri-County Schools. Phelps said he’s had many conversations with Mid-Prairie superintendent Mark Schneider, who had previously been shared with Keota. Phelps said they talked about positive things at Keota like test scores and faculty strengths. He added they didn’t delve too much into specifics, because he’d like to go in with fresh eyes and ears.

Phelps added he looks forward to sitting down with the school board and faculty to discuss their goals for the school. His personal goal is to quickly develop a good relationship with Keota, so that he can get a feel for the climate of the district as well as its strengths and weaknesses.
