The Mid-Prairie baseball team ran into one of the toughest pitchers in the state Thursday night in Cody Menster from Monticello as the Panthers topped the Hawks 7-0 in a River Valley Conference contest.

Opponents were hitting just .045 against Menster entering the game and he had yet to allow a run in the early season. He kept those stellar numbers intact in shutting out Mid-Prairie and allowing just one Golden Hawk hit. Offensively, the Panthers gave Menster plenty to work with behind a four for four night from Matt Manternach. With the loss Mid-Prairie falls to 4-2. The Golden Hawks host Center Point Urbana tonight in a doubleheader.
