Work is slated to begin July 6th on a pipeline in Washington County and per Iowa Code, an inspector can be approved by the county to oversee the agricultural impact for landowners, and action to do so was tabled by the Washington County Board of Supervisors. Washington County Engineer Jacob Thorius explained, the pipeline company is looking to replace sections of a pipeline that carries hazardous liquid gas from the intersection of Wayland Road and 275th Street up to Highway 92.

Civil Engineer Evan Del Val with ISG of Des Moines said the inspector is to protect the land and oversee soil and drainage tile. He added the cost of the inspection will be covered by the pipeline company and no liability will go against the county.

The supervisors elected to table the item until Tuesday’s meeting, a day before work on the pipeline begins, so they can review documents.
