A test run of the RAGBRAI route was completed Saturday and cyclists stopped in Washington Friday evening. About 35 cyclists took part in the pre-ride and met afterwards at JP’s 207, a couple of those were RAGBRAI committee members from Muscatine, Bob Hayes spoke of the trip to Washington saying it got really hot and there were some hills with head wind.Temperatures climbed to 93 degrees Friday.

Chris Steinbach plans to go through the whole route in July for a cause – the Muscatine Center for Social Action, a non-profit homeless shelter. The team of 40 will be raising money while completing RAGBRAI.

RAGBRAI will stay in Washington overnight July 29th and cyclists will finish the state-wide trek by dipping their tires in the Mississippi River in Muscatine.
