A historian researching the life of Frank B. Mills from New York has visited Washington. Roger Grinnell is working on writing a book about Mills, who ran the Mills Seed Company in Washington in the early 1900s. Grinnell shares Mills was innovative and was able to grow the company to the point where he became postmaster at his own post officer due to the influx of mail at his New York state location. Mills was sending out millions of catalogs after starting the company on his own. The Mills Seed Company building is now located on North Iowa Avenue after being moved a few years ago. The brick building is being brought back to life by Terry Philips.
