In dramatic fashion the Iowa Mennonite School softball team posted their second win of the season topping Pekin 7-6 Thursday in Kalona.

The Panthers got on the board with a single tally in the first but IMS pitcher Hannah Harris recorded a strike out with the bases loaded to limit the damage. In the bottom of the first Avery Blauvelt and Callie Shaw smacked back to back doubles to tie the score at one. Pekin scored single runs in the second and fourth innings to take a 3-1 lead. IMS got their first lead of the night in the fifth when Blauvelt and Shaw again came up with back to back two out doubles to make the score 4-3. Pekin responded with three in their half of the sixth to jump back on top 6-4. Trailing by two going to their last at bat, Iowa Mennonite started the inning with a strike out followed by back to back singles by Suzanna Yoder and Rubye Ney to put the tying runs on base, following another strikeout Shaw stepped in with two down. Shaw blasted a three run walk off homer to left to seal the victory.

IMS was led on the night by Shaw, who ended with three hits, four RBI and one run scored. Blauvelt finished with three hits, an RBI and two runs scored. Hannah Harris got the win in the circle, she went all seven innings, giving up 11 hits, six runs, two were earned, she walked three and struck out four. With the win IMS is now 2-5 on the year.
