Portions of the KCII-listening area were placed under a tornado watch Wednesday evening. Shortly after 6 p.m. the National Weather Service issued the watch until 1 a.m. for nine counties in Illinois and 16 counties in Iowa, including Washington, Keokuk, Louisa, Iowa and Johnson counties. The watch meant that conditions were favorable for the formation of a tornado and advised those in the area to monitor the weather.

Funnel clouds were reported north of the Quad Cities and multiple tornado reports came in from trained weather spotters and law enforcement in central Illinois.

Partly sunny skies are in the forecast for Washington through the weekend, listen to KCII for weather updates.
