Iowa’s corn and soybeans are in good to excellent condition. According to this week’s Iowa Crop Progress and Condition Report, corn is 61% good and 18% excellent while soybeans are 66% good and 14% excellent. In southeast Iowa, 94% of soybeans have emerged, ahead of the five-year average.

State Climatologist Harry Hillaker said last week was hot across Iowa with temperatures 6.2 degrees above normal. The high temperatures and lack of precipitation is stressing some crops causing corn leaves to curl, especially in the lower two-thirds of the state.
