The Washington State Bank Strength and Conditioning Center at Case Field received a make over last month. Washington student athletes began using 10 new Powerlift racks and platforms on Memorial Day, allowing three athletes to use equipment at one time. The racks can be used for squats, bench press, push press and more.

On Tuesday, the Washington High School Athletic Booster Club hosted an Alive After 5 event to show off the $53,000 renovation project. The Booster Club helped finance the project thanks in part to donations from the Washington Matbackers, the Demon Gridiron Club, the Washington boys and girls basketball teams, and the Demon baseball and softball teams.

Head football coach Garrison Carter added his coaching staff volunteered 30 hours of their time to put in the new weight room floor. Carter says he’s had up to 150 athletes in the weight room at one time using the new equipment, stating their workout time has decreased by over a half an hour because more people can workout at once instead of waiting in line.

The Washington State Bank Strength and Conditioning Center is used year round by Demon athletes competing in baseball, basketball, cross country, football, softball, soccer, track, volleyball, and wrestling.
