One of the responsibilities of Washington County Environmental Health is to inspect tanning booths, tattoo shops and pools in the county. At Thursday’s Board of Health meeting, Environmental Health director Jennine Wolf explained their department had been approached by the state to take over the inspections for Wapello, Keokuk and Mahaska Counties as well. She explained the current staff can handle the work and it will bring in approximately $11,000 annually. The board approved the three-year contract to conduct the inspections.
