A pivotal pair of baseball games in the Southeast Conference are set to take place tonight at Dick Sojka Memorial Field. The Washington Demons (13-7 overall; 6-4 Southeast) will welcome the No. 6 Fairfield Trojans (12-5 overall; 6-1 Southeast) to town for a pair of league contests. The Trojans swept the initial doubleheader in Fairfield on June 2, winning 3-0 in game one and game two, 3-2, in nine innings. Washington owns sole possession of third place in the league standings, entering play today three losses behind Fairfield for first place.

The Demons were last in competition Thursday, taking a pair of games from the Fort Madison Bloodhounds (1-15 overall), 17-6 in game one and 14-0 in game two. Washington has won the previous 12 meetings versus Fort Madison, outscoring the Bloodhounds 53-7 in the four meetings this season. Washington enters tonight’s game on a three-game winning streak, scoring 12 or more runs in each game.

Fairfield resumes play today after suffering two setbacks to non-conference opponents over their last three games. The Trojans were held to four hits in a 5-1 loss last Wednesday versus the Albia Blue Demons (15-5 overall). The following day, Fairfield split a doubleheader against the Knoxville Panthers (8-10 overall), winning game one, 2-0 before losing game two, 3-1.
