The Southeast Conference season continues tonight in Henry County for the Washington Demon softball team (2-10 overall). Washington travels to Mount Pleasant’s Mapleleaf Athletic Complex for two conference matchups versus their league rivals the No. 7 Mount Pleasant Panthers (10-0 overall).

This marks the third doubleheader this week for the Demons, who hosted the No. 9 Keokuk Chiefs (6-5 overall) on Monday, and the No. 6 Oskaloosa Indians (9-1 overall) on Tuesday. Washington was swept by the Chiefs, 14-4 in game one and 13-6 in game two. The Demons lost a pair of games against the Indians, dropping game one 6-3 and game two. 9-0.

Washington’s pitching and defense has been a factor in their slow start this spring, allowing nine or more runs in four of their last five games. On the otherside, Mount Pleasant’s offense has been strong, scoring 10 or more runs in six of their 10 wins this season.

KCII Sports will provide live play-by-play coverage from Mapleleaf Athletic Complex, beginning with the Washington Hy-Vee Pregame Show at 5 p.m. on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com.
