Mid-Prairie girls golf standout Allyson Wertz made her future plans official Tuesday in the library at Mid-Prairie High School.

The Golden Hawk senior signed her letter of intent to play golf for Mount Mercy University. Wertz finished her senior season with the seventh best nine hole scoring average in the state at 44. She ended the 2016 season ranked ninth in the state individually by the Iowa Golf Coaches Association. She was named to the class 3A All-Iowa golf team for her accomplishments this season.

Other accomplishments in her career include being a 19 time meet medalist, four time first team All-Cedar Valley and River Valley Conference selection, two time All-State selection, part of the 2013 Cedar Valley Conference championship team, and one time team state qualifier. Wertz also holds the Mid-Prairie nine and 18 hole girls golf scoring records, shooting 34 on the front nine and 76 total for her 18 hole round at the Class 3A Regional at Kalona May of 2016. Wertz will begin school at Mount Mercy this fall.
