The 106th Annual Whoopee Days in Brighton is this weekend, and Saturday will feature a series of contests. After the parade is over, there will be a “Little Darling” Cute Kids contest open to ages one through eight. At 3 p.m., kids aged four through 11 can take part in the Hawkeye Pedal Tractor Pull. Winners will advance to the state pull in September.

Also at 3 p.m. will be the “Best Darn Cook Contest” at the Brighton Community Center. Entries must be made from scratch and will be judged based on appearance and taste. Brighton Chamber Member Nancy Adrian said people who don’t have an entry can still come watch, sample the entries, and vote for a people’s choice award.

The last contest will be the traditional Whoopee Pie Eating Contest at 5:30 p.m. on the stage in the city park. In addition to the group competition, there will also be an open class. KCII’s Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live from Whoopee Days on Saturday.
