Strong winds during a thunderstorm Wednesday afternoon caused damage across southeast Iowa and Washington residents have a chance to get rid of any downed tree branches. JJ Bell, City of Washington Maintenance and Construction Superintendent, shares city crews will go around town Monday and Tuesday to pick up brush caused by the wind damage. Residents are asked to place brush by the curb for pick up. He adds, this is only for wind damaged trees, normal trimming and yard waste bags will be collected on regularly scheduled days.

Wind gusts reached 62 miles per hour in Washington Wednesday.
