The Washington Demon baseball (17-14 overall) season came to a close Friday in Solon. The Demons traveled to Solon High School for the Class 3A District 9 matchup versus the Solon Spartans (19-20). The Spartans plated three runs in the second and third innings, defeating Washington, 6-1.

Junior Aaron Vittetoe provided the Demons’ lone run of the game, driving in junior Dakota Kron on an RBI single in the fourth inning. Vittetoe reached base safely three times, recording two singles and was hit by a pitch. Junior Colin Zear took the loss on the mound, allowing six runs on seven hits, walking one and striking out two. Washington stranded nine runners on base, six in scoring position.

The loss ends Washington’s season at 17-14 overall, an 11 win improvement from a season ago. The Demons lose Michael Ellingson and Cole Embree to graduation.
