Drought conditions in southeast Iowa and across the state have lessened from last week to this week. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor, only 6.8% of Iowa is in moderate drought, down from 17.6% last week. Across the state 41% of Iowa is abnormally dry. In southeast Iowa, Washington, Louisa, Iowa and Keokuk counties are abnormally dry while areas of Henry and Jefferson counties are still in moderate drought. At this time last year, only 6.83% of Iowa was abnormally dry.
