The Washington County Fair has concluded and before people look forward to the Iowa State Fair in August, 4-H and Youth Coordinator Amy Green took a moment to reflect on the week, calling it “unbelievable.” She explained students work for months and months to get projects ready and it was fun to have everyone come together from around the county to support the students.

Thursday evening a couple from Riverside was honored as an inductee of the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame. The couple is Jim and Louella Schneider. He grew up as a Riverside Rambler and was a 4-H leader of the club since 1976. The pair also had two sons go through the Washington County 4-H program. In addition, Jim helped start the bucket-bottle calf class in the 90’s and has served as beef superintendent. Jim has also served on the Washington County Extension Council and has been a member of the Washington County Fair Association. Louella was not in 4-H but is described as a “strong supporter of Jim’s in all of his 4-H activities, as well as their sons” and other family members.
