Louisa County Conservation is hosting their annual Full Moon Float this Friday night. The event will run from 9-11 p.m. at the Snively Campground on the Odessa Water Trail, located east of Wapello. Naturalist Roxy Gerard is leading the paddle, and she said it’s often advertised to get out on the water, but people usually only take advantage of it during the day time. She feels there’s a lot happening on the water at night people should experience, including storks flying overhead, fish jumping, and frogs singing. She called it a “complete sensory flip” when paddling at night.

She added it’s a good beginner experience for people to get out on the water, and they have everything needed available to rent. Temperatures on Friday are supposed to be very high during the day, so she also feels it’s a good opportunity to do something outside because of cooler night temperatures. There is still space available for the Full Moon Float, and anyone interested can call Louisa County Conservation at 319-523-8381 to register.
