The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team is in action tonight in the second round of the district tournament when they travel to Wilton to battle the No. 1 ranked Beavers.

Mid-Prairie comes into tonight’s game with an overall record of 13-18. They advanced through the first round of the playoffs Saturday with a 13-9 come-from-behind win over the West Liberty Comets. Jared Miller and Karson Gingerich combined for five hits and four RBI in the victory. Mid-Prairie is led on the year at the plate by Adam Schrock and his .322 average. Keaton Duwa leads Mid-Prairie with 24 runs scored and 23 RBI on the year. On the mound Schrock is 5-4 with a 3.16 ERA in 47 innings of work.

Wilton comes into tonight’s game with the number one ranking in class 2A. The Beavers have a record of 28-3 on the year and are undefeated against teams in 2A, with their only losses coming to Davenport Central, Davenport West and Fairfield. On the year five players in the Wilton lineup are hitting over .400 led by Javin Drake who is at .486 with 39 RBI, 51 total hits and 47 runs scored. On the mound Drake and teammate Evan Reifert are each perfect at 9-0. Drake has a microscopic ERA of 0.12 this year while Reifert is at 1.29. The Beavers are ranked in the top 10 in class 2A in every major offensive and pitching category These two teams played a River Valley Conference doubleheader on July 6th in Wilton that the Beavers swept by scores of 2-1 and 11-1.
