Rain is giving way to excessive heat in the area. According to Accuweather, Washington received 0.69 inches of rain Tuesday. An excessive heat warning has been issued from 1 p.m. Wednesday to 7 p.m. Saturday for the KCII-listening area. The heat warning means a prolonged period of hot temperatures and high humidity will occur. Heat index values are forecast to peak between 100 and 110 degrees with overnight temperatures dropping only to 75 degrees. Be sure to stay hydrated, stay in air-conditioning and out of the sun if possible, and check on relatives and neighbors, especially the elderly. Listen to KCII for weather updates.
