The Iowa Mennonite School softball team blasted Winfield-Mt. Union Tuesday night at IMS in the first round of the class 1A softball playoffs by a 13-2 score in just five innings.

In a game heard on AM and FM KCII, IMS posted their second win over WMU in a week period of time, last Tuesday they had beaten the Wolves 13-1 in four innings. Iowa Mennonite was hot early, scoring seven times in the first inning on four hits to jump out to a big lead. IMS added another run in the second on a Callie Shaw solo home run. Another IMS run in the third stretched the advantage to 9-0. The Wolves would break through in their half of inning three with a pair of runs to get within 9-2 but IMS closed with a four spot in the fourth to help seal the win.

Hannah Harris got the win in the circle for IMS. She went four innings in relief, giving up four hits, two runs and striking out three. At the plate Suzanna Yoder was four for four with three runs scored and two RBI. Eight of the night players in the IMS batting order scored runs while seven of the nine had hits. Winfield-Mt. Union was led by Liana Sweezer who was two for two with an RBI. With the loss WMU ends their season at 1-17. With the win, IMS is now 7-10 on the year and will next be in action tonight when they travel to No. 8 Calamus-Wheatland for the second round of the playoffs.
