The Mid-Prairie softball team celebrated senior night Friday at Carr, Vincent, Gould Field in Kalona, hosting the No. 9 in class 5A Cedar Rapids Jefferson J-Hawks.

Jefferson took the win 15-0 in four innings. The J-Hawks scored once in the first, six times in the second as they sent 11 batters to the plate, and eight times in the fourth as 13 J-Hawks saw the plate. Mid-Prairie broke up Erica Oler’s perfect game with a Cassidy Rourke single in the third. The Golden Hawks led off the fourth with an Amber Kral double, followed by an Abby Tornow single but were unable to push anything across.

Rourke took the loss for Mid-Prairie in the circle going three plus innings, allowing 10 hits, 12 runs and walking four. Mid-Prairie’s four seniors playing their final regular season game at home included Alex Rath, Maddi Zahradnek, Amber Kral and Ali Naylor. With the loss Mid-Prairie is now 12-20 on the year. They host their Golden Hawk Invitational tournament today in Kalona.
