The Kalona Chamber of Commerce recently received $2,000 in a mini-grant from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. Interim Chamber Director Craig Vasey (VASE-ee) said the grant will go towards new signage for the chamber’s various events. For example, they will be attending the RAGBRAI stop in Washington, and they needed new banners and signs that said “Kalona” on them. Also, when they go to the Iowa State Fair, they wanted new signs to accompany their vendor stands. Vasey said the grant money’s purpose is to help the community promote itself better.
