The 2016 baseball/softball postseason opens tonight on AM and FM KCII when Iowa Mennonite School hosts Winfield-Mt. Union in the first round of class 1A regional softball.

IMS enters tonight’s game with an overall record of 6-9. In their last game IMS was beaten by Lone Tree 3-0. Iowa Mennonite is led on the year by Rubye Ney and her .455 average. Avery Blauvelt leads the team with 15 RBI and 16 runs scored. In the circle Hannah Harris has thrown 80 innings with an overall record of 6-8 and an ERA of 6.09.

Winfield-Mt. Union comes into tonight’s game with a record of 1-15. The Wolves lone win came June 21st at WACO 12-6. On the year the Wolves are led at the plate by Naya Silva, she’s hitting .478 with a team best 11 hits. Maci Richardson leads WMU with six RBI. In the circle Ana Schurr has thrown 32 innings with a 3.25 ERA and an overall record of 1-3. These two teams met on June 28th in Winfield with IMS taking a 13-1 win in four innings.

The winner of tonight’s game advances to Wednesday night battle No. 8 in class 1A Calamus-Wheatland in the second round of regional play.
