Picnics and grilling are common occurrences this time of year and there are food safety rules to keep in mind to protect yourself and your family. Jason Taylor with Washington County Environmental Health reminds people to keep hot food hot and cold food cold. Dishes can sit out for four hours but if you aren’t able to maintain their temperature, then throw them away because bacteria can begin to grow. When grilling, Taylor reminds people to be sure to cook meat thoroughly. Also, before handling food wash your hands.
