The Lake Darling Youth Center was in need of replacing the counter top in their main lodge, and got some help from the Washington County Riverboat Foundation. Youth Center President Jerry King said they have inspections by public health twice a year, and were told the counter top needed replacing. In order to get the funding for the project, they sought a $2,000 mini-grant from the WCRF. King said they’ve gone to the WCRF many times, whenever they’re in need of extra help for projects. With the grant, he said the project is completely funded and they can proceed with the replacement. He added, the youth center has been around for 65 years, and things invariably wear out so they have to replace them from time to time.
