Offense was hard to come by on the baseball diamond Tuesday in Oskaloosa. As heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, the Washington Demon baseball team (15-12 overall) resumed their season on the road last night, battling the Oskaloosa Indians (21-8 overall) in a non-conference clash. A four-run bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the difference as the Indians came away with a 4-1 victory over Washington.

The Demons collected two hits on the night, including an RBI single from junior Dakota Kron in the bottom of the first inning, giving Washington an early 1-0 lead. The other Demon hit was recorded by junior Ryan Loy, reaching on an infield single in the third inning.

Washington sent three junior pitchers to the mound yesterday. Zach Londberg saw the most action, throwing 4.1 innings of scoreless baseball. Londberg scattered five hits, walking one, and striking out one. Tanner Coleman is charged with the loss, throwing one inning in relief. Coleman allowed two runs on one hit, walking one, and struck out no one. Colin Zear recorded the final two outs of the game but not before allowing two additional runs to score on two hits, hitting one batter.

The setback puts Washington’s record at 15-12 overall. The Demons’ next scheduled game is Monday, hosting the Center Point-Urbana Stormin Pointers (8-27 overall) in a non-conference doubleheader.
