When it’s 80 degrees outside the temperature inside a car can climb up to 99 degrees within 10 minutes and that’s why it can be dangerous to leave a pet in a parked car even with the windows cracked, according to The Humane Society of the United States. Amber Talbot, director of PAWS and More in Washington, says it’s best to leave pets at home in the cool indoor temperatures. If you do see an animal in a parked car at a store, go inside and ask a manager to page the owner of that make and model vehicle to come to the front or contact local authorities for assistance.
