With RAGBRAI coming through Washington County, local law enforcement is preparing to log some overtime to make sure things stay safe. Washington County Sheriff Jerry Dunbar said their main objective is to let people know they’re out there and keeping an eye on everything as it proceeds. Every officer available will work a 12 hour shift during the event, and no one was allowed to take vacation. He believes every county involved with a RAGBRAI stop will have law enforcement working all day and night while also utilizing neighboring departments, and Washington will be no different. Dunbar added while they will uphold the law, they don’t plan on writing many tickets. Their primary concern is being seen and making sure people are safe.
