The Council of Mid-Prairie Churches is sponsoring a charity clothes give-away this weekend in Kalona. Organizer Lynn Brown said the annual event was started around 10 years ago, and she feels they’ve positively affected peoples’ lives in the county. She said one year a woman came who had recently gotten a job, but didn’t have the proper attire for the workplace, and was able to find what she needed at the event.

She added most of the clothing they receive comes from the citizens of Kalona, though the people they help come from all over Washington County. The give-away will be held in the Fellowship Hall of the Kalona United Methodist Church and will run Friday from 1-6 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m.-noon. Brown says if anyone still wants to donate clothes they can deliver it Thursday to the church.
