Shelby Chapman – Miss Rodeo Iowa – contributed photo

Miss Rodeo Iowa resides in Richland and recently stopped by KCII to share her experience. Shelby Chapman explains the pageant is held in Ft. Madison with the Tri-State Rodeo and it is similar to the Miss America pageant. All of the women in the pageant have the same talent – horsemanship and they do reigning patterns and switch horses. When she was 13 Chapman rode a horse for the first time and fell in love with it. She saved up money and purchased her first horse, a paint mare named Savannah. Chapman will travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, in December to take part in the national pageant. She’ll also be visiting the Washington County Fair in a couple of weeks.
