While less of Iowa is experiencing drought conditions overall from last week to this week, more of southeast Iowa is in a moderate drought. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor’s recent report, nearly 18% of Iowa is in moderate drought, up 2.4% from last week. Area counties experiencing moderate drought include Washington, Keokuk, Jefferson, Henry, and parts of Iowa and Louisa counties. Overall, 47% of Iowa is abnormally dry, down 4.5% from last week. At this time last year, none of Iowa was experiencing drought conditions.
