Finishing one game short of the state tournament for a second straight year, the Sigourney Savage softball team (16-12) collected several postseason awards from the South Iowa Cedar League. The coaches of the conference awarded three Sigourney players with first team honors, one received a spot on the second team, and two were given honorable mention distinctions.

At the plate, Streigle had 41 hits in 89 at bats, 12 going for extra bases. Her three home runs topped the Savages, and her nine doubles ranked second.

Senior Sierra Davis capped off her high school athletic career as a second-team all-conference outfielder. As the Savages’ starting center fielder, Davis amassed a .980 fielding percentage, the second best on the team. Offensively, Davis recorded 31 hits in 86 at bats, four going for extra bases. Her eight walks forced was the third most on the squad.

Sophomore Madi Schauf and freshman Summer Barthelman were recognized as Sigourney’s all-conference honorable mention selections. Schauf started 28 games at third base. Barthelman spent time as the team’s right fielder, first baseman, and second baseman.
