RAGBRAI will be cycling into Washington Friday and with the event will be about 10,000 cyclists, plus support crews coming to town. With the influx of people the Washington Police Department has some advice to ensure a successful and safe event, Sergeant Ron See says it’s best to do any errands on Thursday or wait until Saturday. Also, the downtown area will have limited access and will only be open to pedestrians.

Friday, cyclists will enter Washington on Old Highway 92, along the north side of the fairgrounds and then travel into town on West Madison Street, go north two blocks on South Avenue F and east to the square on West Washington Street.

To leave Washington on Saturday, cyclists will go north on 2nd Avenue, east on 11th Street and north out of town on North 12th Avenue as they make their way to the final destination – the Mississippi River in Muscatine.
