The City of Sigourney is going through their final preparations in anticipation for RAGBRAI coming through town on Friday. Organizer Amber Kephart said they’ll be spending the last couple days getting everything set up, that includes getting their beer garden, and getting the square decorated. Kephart said she’s looking forward to the whole event, but in particular the Iowa COPS team coming through. Her husband is in law enforcement, and a friend of theirs died in the line of duty five years ago. So she feels a group that rides for officers who have died is particularly heartwarming.

She added, they’ve put a lot of hard work into the event, so she’s anxious to see it all pay off. Additionally, Kephart wanted to let people know they will be reopening the beer garden at 5 p.m. for the community as a way of saying thank you. She said having the event come through takes its toll on a community, and they’re very appreciative of how supportive everyone has been.
