Southeast Iowa’s drought conditions have lessened over the last week. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor’s weekly report, only 3.6% of Iowa is in moderate drought, down from 6.8% a week ago. Also, only 30.7% of Iowa is abnormally dry, down from 41% the week before. Currently, Washington County is not experiencing drought conditions, but portions of Iowa, Keokuk, Jefferson and Henry counties are abnormally dry. At this time last year, only 6.03% of the state was abnormally dry.
