Soybeans in Iowa are slightly behind the state’s overall rate, but ahead of the five-year average. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s recent report, 57% of soybeans in southeast Iowa are blooming, while 66% are blooming across the state. The five-year average is 55% blooming. Also, in southeast Iowa 18% of the soybean crop is setting pods, two percent behind the state currently but eight points ahead of the five-year average. Iowa’s soybeans are currently rated at 7% poor, 30% fair, 50% good and 11% excellent.
