Composite recycled material that is Miami-Dade County Certified, manufactured in Washington and looks like slate tile for roofs was presented to the Washington County Board of Supervisors this week while they discuss replacing the courthouse’s roof. Brava Roof Tile is the company behind the material that has a 50-year limited warranty.

Tony Greazel with the company explained a benefit of this material over traditional slate is the weight and durability. This material weighs about a third of slate and is durable through wind, hail and ultraviolet rays. Disney World is one of their customers. Also, he estimates it is less than half of what real slate would cost.

No formal action was taken regarding the courthouse roof.
