Lightning was scattered across the sky and thunder filled the air Wednesday morning in the KCII-listening area. The National Weather Service issued a thunderstorm watch from 1 to 5 a.m. for Washington, Keokuk, Iowa and Johnson counties. At 3:15 a.m., the Washington Municipal Airport recorded wind speeds at 22 miles per hour with a gust reaching 31 miles per hour. From midnight to 6 a.m. one inch of rain fell in Washington Wednesday according to AccuWeather, with more rain in the forecast through the early morning hours Friday.
