Unemployment rates in the KCII-listening area increased from May to June. Also, the two counties with the highest rates of unemployment are in southeast Iowa with Wapello County at 6.3% and Lee County at 6.8% in June. The State of Iowa’s unemployment rate in June was 4.0%.

Washington County’s unemployment rate went from 2.7% in May to 3.1% in June; that’s a change of 300 people unemployed increased to 400 people in June. All of Washington County’s neighboring counties also saw increases in unemployment.
