Starting this week, the Washington Demon football team will get a taste of what life is like for members of our nation’s military. The Demons will travel to Camp Dodge in Johnston on Monday to spend two days with the Iowa National Guard. The players will spend two nights in the barracks at Camp Dodge, and will train with military members. Last year, the United State’s Army held a boot camp for the Demon football team, putting the group through team building activities to help unify the unit.

Since Garrison Carter took over as head coach of Washington’s football team in 2014, he’s made a point to develop a relationship with both the United State Army and the Iowa National Guard. Washington has honored current and former military members the last two seasons with the team’s annual Heroes Night Game.

The Demons are coming off a 7-3 campaign in 2015. Washington opens the regular season August 26 in Albia, facing the Class 2A Blue Demons.
